program of accelerated training for Instrument Flight Rules in Rotary wing
Aircraft; Certified for VFR and IFR flight in OH-13 e/g (no IFR), UH-1
A/B/C/D/H and AH -1.
Earned civilian
commercial pilots license with Instrument rating in Rotor Wing A/C.
US Army 1968
through 1970 as Warrant officer, Rotary Wing Aviator.
Assigned to B
troop, 2/17 Air Cav. with 101 Air Mobile Division in I Corps, Republic of
Vietnam
Primary missions
were Aerial Recon (Pink Teams) and Aerial Artillery. Flew AH-1, OH-6A,
and UH-1H aircraft.
Participated in
the Tet 69 Campaign and Operation Nathan Hale or Lamar Plain (101st
name) in Chu Lai - Tam Ky area of the Americal Division's AO.
Med-evaced to
Japan Sept 21 1969 due to wounds from a shoot down in Cobra during
recon mission.
Awarded 2 Purple
Hearts, 5 Air Medals and an assortment of coffee tokens.
Worked for
Lockheed, GE before a long term employment in management with CONTEL
(Later bought by GTE).
In 1994 began
an informal relationship with HPS as a beta tester of Point of
Attack, Aide De Camp and Scott's other assorted adventures.
